Medications for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) typically involve a combination of antidepressants, anti-anxiety medications, and sleep aids. Below are a few commonly used medications:
Antidepressants:
1) Selective Sertonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs): Fluoxetine (Prozac), sertraline (Zoloft), paroxetine (Paxil), citalopram (Celexa) help to reduce depression and anxiety.
2) Serotonin-Norepinepherine Reuptake Inhibitors (SNRIs): Venlafaxine (Effexor), duloxetine (Cymbalta)
3) mirtzapine (Remeron) to help depression, anxiety, sleep and appetite.
4) tricyclic antidepressants: doxepin (Sinequan), amitriptyline, nortriptyline (Pamelor)
Anti-Anxiety Medications:
